It is not uncommon to experience food as a source of confusion rather than a source of nourishment. With so many conflicting dietary theories out there today, most of us are no longer sure what, when or how much is appropriate to eat.

Feed thinks that eating should be delicious and uncomplicated, and that the key to health lies in understanding each person’s individual needs, rather than following a set of predetermined rules. True nourishment must take into account more than simply what we put in our mouths. Meaningful relationships, satisfying work, daily movement and mindfulness are as important to health as is a nourishing diet, and often these elements influence the foods that we choose!

On the plate, we focus on preparing and eating whole foods rather than on counting calories and dissecting foods into their component nutrient parts. We think it’s important to eat your greens, not just to get enough antioxidants. In other words, eating an apple is far different than taking a multi-vitamin. We think you’re getting a-lot more out of real whole food than you could ever detail on a “nutrition information” label (even more out of foods you lovingly prepare at home!) But then, the best foods for you don’t come with labels anyway.

In fact, we think it’s possible to eat consciously and joyfully and to feel healthy and satisfied without counting grams of anything. You’re not going to get a rigid meal plan here, so if that’s what you’re craving you’ve come to the wrong place.

We’re not saying it’s easy. Not only is there an overwhelming tide of information to contend with, there are billions of dollars spent every day to seduce us away from simple, whole foods and toward processed and packaged industrially produced products that are laden with bad fats, chemicals and sugar. It is nearly impossible to walk into a supermarket these days and walk out with real food.

But we do think that the world is beginning to wake up to the reality that good food and an integrated, balanced lifestyle creates healthy people. In the meantime, we have a few tricks up our sleeve.

We believe in being the change you want to see in the world. Won’t you join us?
